Description

Overview

“Stroboscope” delivers 64 handcrafted presets for Roland JD-800 / JD-08 / JD-990 / JD-800 VST / Zenology. The collection draws direct inspiration from the energetic sound design of the 90s. You get lush atmospheric pads, energetic leads, deep basses, classic chord hits and authentic rave stabs. These sounds bring back the golden era of electronic music while still fitting perfectly into modern production workflows.

Sound Design Approach

We created the bank first on the Roland JD-800 VST to shape the core character of each preset. Afterwards, we converted the sounds to other formats using JD Tools by Saga Musix (https://github.com/sagamusix/JDTools). To ensure proper translation, we manually refined every conversion on the original hardware. There are natural differences between software and hardware engines, so some tonal variations may still appear. However, those slight differences also add character and authenticity.

Creative Potential

This soundset pushes the JD engine beyond its classic presets. You can easily switch between retro-styled patches and fresh reimagined tones with modern attack and clarity. Therefore, the bank works both for nostalgic producers and for those who want to bring the JD sound into current electronic genres.

Installation Instructions

The patches will load into bank A. Banks B, C and D remain empty for your own sounds.
